Background on Take A Stand
Take A Stand was launched in Washington, DC in October 2015 with a reception at the National Press Club attended by a diverse representation of elected officials, allies, advocates and victims/survivors. The annual NCADV Lobby Day was held the next day on Capitol Hill and included representatives from the White House, NFL, celebrities and other allies from around the country. It marked a national effort to create awareness and engage everyone in taking action to hold abusers accountable for their actions and to create systemic cultural change. A social media campaign engaged all of society, including police officers, high school and college campuses, hospitals, the justice system, professional sports, local businesses, multi-generational families, houses of worship and domestic violence shelters and victims, survivors and their children to name a few.
You can play an important role in raising awareness about domestic violence and showing your support for victims and survivors. Acting with NCADV on social media gives you a chance to have a voice in the conversation about domestic violence.
